Abstract:

The allometric curve, length-weight relationship, was inferred for the Indian Ocean albacore using data
taken in period of 2012-2016. A log-normality was assumed for the observeration of weight to account
for a larger variation in larger fish length. Given limited information of sex of sampled individuals, an
aggregated curve was estimated as W = a × Lb. This estimated curve was confirmed to have an almost
similar with that estimated with the same data under a normality assumption of weight. It should be
noted that the result is somewhat different from the curve used in the previous stock assessment (SS3)
was the one for the South Atlantic populations, W = 1.3718 × 10−5 L3.0973
