Special Session of the Vessel Monitoring System Working Group (VMSWG)

Objective of the Special Session of the VMSWG:

Similarly to the IOTC, the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) is an Article XIV body under the FAO Constitution. As such, the GFCM is subject to the same legal, administrative and financial rules to set up a regional VMS. Consequently, the Special Session of the VMSWG intends to learn from the experience of the GFCM and discuss the possibility of capitalizing on their work to expedite the preparatory phase and procurement process for an IOTC regional VMS.
