Annual retained catches, 1950–2023

This dataset contains estimates of historical catch data for albacore, bigeye tuna, skipjack tuna, swordfish, and yellowfin tuna, stratified by year, CPC, fleet, fishery type, fishery category, fishing gear, fishery, and species, covering the period from 1950 to 2023.

Field labels are available in both English (sheet 'CATCH') and French (sheet 'PRISES').  

All IOTC code lists are distributed through the IOTC Reference Data Catalogue and are also made available via an R library hosted on the IOTC Secretariat’s GitHub repository (iotc-data-reference-codelists), with a mirror maintained by the Fisheries Data Interoperability Working Group (fdiwg). In addition, the code lists have been published on the Zenodo platform to support versioning, citation, and long-term accessibility (https://zenodo.org/records/15743875).

The 'CATCH_ESTIMATES_1950_2023.xlsx' file can be opened using spreadsheet software such as OnlyOffice spreadsheet editor, LibreOffice Calc, Google Sheets, or Microsoft Excel.
